Here are a few key callouts from the webinar:
  • The US 30-year fixed mortgage rates have increased 3.83 percentage points since the end of last year. That's the biggest year-to-date increase in rates in over 50 years.

  • Is a recession around the corner? 63% of Wall Street Journal economists say there is a chance of a recession in the next 12 months.
  • Historically, during the last 6 recessions, housing prices increased 4 out of the 6 times. So while a recession doesn't mean home prices are going to fall, it does mean falling mortgage rates.
  • Buyers are wondering - should I buy right now? What agents can do is provide clarity around the alternative: renting.
